To apply for a learner's permit in the State of Oklahoma, you must be 15 ½ years of age. In order to receive your motorcycle permit, you will have to pass two written knowledge tests: the basic exam required for your standard operator's license and the motorcycle-specific exam, which covers related topics such as safe riding techniques and motorcycle-specific traffic laws. Once you receive your instruction permit, you will have to wait at least 30 days before you can apply for a license, assuming you are the right age.

Before you can obtain your permit, you will have to self-certify the type of license you require, the type of commerce you will be conducting, and whether or not you meet any applicable medical requirements. You will also have to determine if you need any endorsements in addition to your standard CDL. To obtain your permit, you will need to take and successfully pass separate written knowledge exams for each of these. For example, if you are pursuing just a commercial license, you will need to take one test; if you are pursuing a commercial license and three separate endorsements, you will need to take four tests.
