In order to apply for your learner's permit in the State of Washington, you must be at least 15 years old and enrolled in a driver's education class. If you are not enrolled in a driver's education class, then you will have to wait until you are at least 15 years and six months old to apply for your permit. If you do take a driver's education class and pass it, your certificate of completion will allow your knowledge test to be waived, so for many, this is an attractive option. If you do not attend a driver's education course, you will have to pass a written knowledge test covering traffic laws, safe driving techniques, and road sign shapes and symbols. Comprising 25 questions, you must get at least 20 or more of them correct to pass the test. Give yourself the best chance of success and use our Cheat Sheet!
